New Website – Catholic Stand

[ 5 ] January 29, 2013 |

I’ve been busy developing another Catholic website. Besides this one, which is my pet, personal blog which I couldn’t live without, I developed a website recently for my Rosary-making hobby, I Want A Rosary.com. It’s fun to see requests come in, and I’ve equipped myself with a little Rosary-making assembly line at home complete with special logo address labels to mail the Rosaries.

Last August Tito Edwards, of Big Pulp.it, The American Catholic, and EWTN’s National Catholic Register, and I developed the young adult website, Ignitum Today, which has become a very active community of young and not-so-young commenters. I’ve worked with about 100 writers since we began. I may enjoy being tucked away in my little mountain paradise, but much of my days are filled with interacting with people all over the world.

In fact, it’s been so much fun that Tito and I decided to start another Catholic website, this time targeting Catholic citizens who are taking a stand and living the truths the Church teaches. The website is called Catholic Stand, and there are already 45 writers from all age groups, various vocations, and different nations. We launched last Friday on the feast of the conversion of St. Paul, and this week the website is cranking up to full steam. Please join us, even if you are not Catholic, because we are going to be tackling some big issues in several categories, business, finance, law, history, life, parenting, marriage, and even a little art. Regular readers of this blog will recognize some of the columnists. Go check them out.

One suggestion Stacy. The detailed categorization of posts makes it difficult to know when a new entry has been added, or if I’ve missed a few entries.

You do have a tab on the page for recent posts, but it only lists the most recent 5. Given your large number of contributors, this might not be enough to help people who’ve been away a few days. Could you make this list longer (perhaps scrollable) or even offer a page that simply offers a chronological listing of the past several days” posts?

  2. rt,

Excellent suggestions! Thank you. Done and done!

The “Site Map” in the top bar is basically a list of recent posts, so I changed the name to “Recent Posts.” I also changed the tab to list 15 instead of 5 recent articles.

I’ve enjoyed working on that site (designing websites makes me feel like a kid with a crayon box!), but I miss my blog too. This is the place where the really challenging discussions happen, and I live for that!!! :-D

      Stacy,

Any place you see a combox is the possibility of a challenging discussion. We shall see.
