And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14

But they cried out: Away with him; away with him; crucify him. Pilate saith to them: Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered: We have no king but Caesar. John 19:15

For these things were done, that the scripture might be fulfilled: You shall not break a bone of him. And again another scripture saith: They shall look on him whom they pierced. John 19:36-37

But Mary stood at the sepulchre without, weeping. Now as she was weeping, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, And she saw two angels in white, sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been laid. John 20:11-12

    Thank you for sharing some georgous art—at the art museum in Adelaide, SA they have one of Bouguereau’s Madona & Child hanging opposite one of his Pieta (maybe the one you have here). It’s the best display of religous art outside of Rome.
